Free! Keypict Photo Search plug-in indexes titles, descriptions and keywords from your photos so you can find them quickly using Google Desktop Search.
You search like you're searching the web only Google Desktop finds information on your computer. Searching is nearly instantaneous. To find a photo you search for words stored in the photo. You can search for any words contained in the title, description or keywords.
The search result will show the photo's title, filename and thumbnail image. You can open the image's folder or view the photo full size by clicking on the thumbnail. Clicking on the "cached" link shows the embedded title, description and keywords.
How do you embed words in your pictures? Use Keypict of course. Or you could use Adobe Photoshop or any other program that stores information in photos using standard XMP or IPTC Headers.
Google Desktop will not index photo files already indexed on your computer before installing this plug-in, unless you tell it to re-index the files. You can re-index using Google Desktop's Indexing:Re-Index menu. You can also control which photos to index and which to ignore using Google Desktop Preferences.
Keypict Photo Search uses the Adobe XMP metadata library to process XMP.
